promote a natural way of allowing the body to regain balance.
(*) A trained practioner of reiki massage will have been taugh how to
act as the conduit from which the universal energy will flow through
allowing the person receiving the session to have the energy directed
to where it is most needed. Ki- is the name of the life force energy
that will flow from the hands of the practioner into the clients body.
(*) A reiki massage may be given with the client either clothed or
unclothed depending on the clients level of comfort. Where in massage
therapy it is more effective for the client to be unclothed and covered
except for the area of the body being worked on a reiki massage can be
effective either way.
(*) A reiki practioner will ask you to wear loose clothing so your
natural breathing is not in any way restricted and will either have you
lay on a massage table or recline in a comfortable chair. The setting
will be of a relaxing atmosphere with soft lighting, meditative music
and possibly include the use of aroma therapy.
(*) Once you are comfortable the practioner will have you close your
eyes and breath deeply for a few moments to allow for the beginning of
relaxation. A practioner will usualy follow a sequenced session laying
their hands lightly on different areas of the body depending on just
what it is they are wanting to accomplish for the session.
(*) Reiki massage can also be given without touch if the client is not
comfortable with being touched, the beauty of a reiki massage is that
since it is comprised of energy it does not matter if there is touch
involved the energy can be directed to flow.
(*) The traditional medical field today is becoming more aware on the
benifits of combining a complimentary alternative practice along with
conventional medicine. Doctors are recommending massage and reiki
massage because of the success that they see with these alternative
modalities. Reiki massage practioners are working in clinics, hospitals
and hospice settings to provide a level of stress relief and relaxation
therapy that is not possible with traditional medicine.
